Healed
As I was listening to a message recently the speaker was talking about the time when Israel was in the midst of a serpent attack. (Numbers 21) Now they were being bitten by real snakes, but we are from time to time in the midst of a serpent attack ourselves! Well God told Moses to put a serpent on a stake and tell the people that when they looked at it they would be healed. Funny thing is, they never caught the drift of what was going on. Instead they ended up worshiping a snake on a stake. The thing that jumped in my heart this particular day was that when they looked upon the snake it was like acknowledging their sin of rebellion. And when they did they were healed. Certainly they knew the story of the serpent in the garden the way he deceived Eve and Adam, though he knew better, went right along with it. In the new testament people were often healed when they were forgiven. If you find yourself in the midst of a snake attack, rebelling against the Holy Spirit, simply acknowledge your sin and be made whole. We all miss the mark at times. Sin stands at the door waiting to take us out. We must repent and look unto Jesus, by Whose stripes we were healed.
